Tribute Bands

tributeUsing a tribute band at your event is a very good way of injecting some glamour into the occasion without having to shell out a fortune for the real thing. Currently there are hundreds of tribute bands, worldwide, paying homage to some of the greatest and most famous musicians of all time. Although these bands are quite obviously not the original performers, many of the top-class tribute bands do an amazing job of portraying the music and charisma of the original artist – living or dead. If you have never thought of using a tribute band before you should consider it as a very lively form of entertainment.

Although it is possible to find good imitators of groups or bands, from The Beatles to Abba or Queen, it goes without saying that not every single group or band has an available tribute band that suits the type of music that you are seeking. You will have to search around and sometimes do a fair amount of research and it is always wise to go and listen to them live if possible before booking them for your important event.

There are many places that you can find for these bands performing as they play in a multitude of large and small venues around the world. In several instances you can track down tribute bands and artists at playing at small local venues. If you put out feelers, talk to agents or look on the Internet you will be able to get a good idea as to when these bands and artists will be in your area. If all else fails at least get a demo tape or two so that you can listen to their quality of sound.

There is often mixed feelings about the use of tribute bands instead of genuine performers for while many people are all for them, there are other who feel that they inevitably lack the charisma of the genuine article. They argue that tribute bands do nothing more than take away from the original and while this is a valid point most bands are not trying to intentionally do this. In fact, their motives are to pay respect to the original band and allow the newer generations to get a good idea of what they were all about in their day.

In addition tribute bands are a wonderful option for those on a budget or when a band that is now out of existence is required be present for a particular themed event; for example if you were holding a Swinging Sixties party. In the end it comes down to personal taste but bear in mind that there are many people who love tribute artistes and bands simply because they want to keep the essence of the band alive and when it comes down to it there is nothing better than seeing a live performance.

For the most part tribute bands can never truly duplicate the on stage performance of the original, but most of these bands and artists do try really hard and should be respected for the job that they do. Not only do tribute bands have to learn all of the music or songs, but they also have to research how the original group looked and acted on stage. This way they ensure that the audience gets the complete entertainment experience that they are looking for.

Tribute bands have grown in popularity over the past few years, as many of the well-known ones put on a surprisingly good show. Do remember if you decide to use a tribute band for any event book as soon as possible, especially for Christmas events since the better bands are snapped up quite early in the season.
